Learning to live with it
As we were planning and preparing to return to a more ‘normal life’, another outbreak of COVID-19 has plunged over half of Australia’s population into lockdown. For the arts and entertainment sector, the slow road to recovery has been blocked again and the focus is once again on survival.
The latest setback has further highlighted the mental health and wellbeing issues facing everyone in the industry. Prior to the pandemic, our research confirmed the alarming statistics around the mental health and wellbeing of people working in the unique environment of the arts and entertainment industry.
When it comes to COVID-19, we are faced with “learning to live with it”, something many are finding very difficult as our everyday lives are turned upside down.
Our flagship mental health program, INTERMISSION, was created to specifically address the needs of the industry and to focus on reducing the unique stresses of working in the Australian entertainment industry. By creating an online format, the INTERMISSION program is now available around Australia.
The ongoing uncertainty in our lives as we look to the future and a way out of the pandemic is having a huge impact on everyone in the industry, from the high profile entertainers to the technicians and support crews and disbanded production teams. There has never been a more important time for individuals to access support as we manage our way through the pandemic. Importantly, this prevention-based program will provide individuals with tools to build resilience and assist their ongoing mental health, and wellbeing for the future.
“Learning to live with it” is about effective self-care strategies for everyone in the industry and will help build a better, healthier Australian performing arts and entertainment industry.
“I encourage everyone to reach out for all the support you need at this time and to remember to prepare for the future. Access our free online webinar tools to manage through times of uncertainty.
